Green Arrow is a vigilante and a superhero with no superpower.
He fights crime by using archery,martial-arts, and latest technology.
Oliver Queen which is his secret identity , is a billionaire industrialist and a play boy of Star City.He is also a outspoken socially progressive politician and has held the office as the Mayor of the city for a very long time.
He was created by Morton Weisinger and was later designed by George Papp.He made his debut inMore Fun Comics #73 in about November 1941.
Green Arrow stayed to be just a backup action hero for quite some time until he actually got his big break with Hal Jordan a.k.a The Green Lantern.
Oliver Queen became The Emerald Archer by staying stranded for five years on a deserted island called Starfish Island.There he not only mastered archery but, when he came to know about the drug smuggling being conducted there by the ruthless and notorious crime lord China White, he took them down one by one.From there,he came back to his city and started to fight crime in his city as a hooded vigilante, a name given to him by press.
Here are the few facts which you may find interesting.
1)His full real name is actually Oliver Jonas "Ollie" Queen.
He actually has Green eyes.
2)Queen Mansion,in which Oliver Queen lives is actually the same one which was used by Lex Luthor in Smallville and Professor Charles Xavier used in X-men:The Last Stand.
3)Green Arrow was made more like a Robin Hood version of Batman.He even had an Arrowcave, an Arrowmobile, and an Arrowplane.But,he soon left all those things and became more original.
And an Arrow Signal too.
4)As a child,he was a huge fan of Robin Hood and idolized him.He also possessed the innate skill of archery.His 5 year stay only helped him hone his true skill.
5)He is one of those Super heroes, who do whatever is necessary to do at the moment.In short, he Kills.He is not reluctant to kill people as many may have already seen in the TV series.This fact actually makes him a pretty bad ass hero.I mean sure he has no power but, he will kill you.
6)In the CW's series.Oliver Queen is seen killing a lot of different people but, inn comics he actually killed only 17 people.He mainly focuses on injuring the people if killing is not necessary.
7)He is a member of Justice League.But,not just any member.He always sees things differently from other heroes and that is why Batman wanted him in Justice League to keep them on the straight path.
8)Comic story is a little different from the one in CW'S series as Oliver's parents die in both stories but, they have very different stories.Also,John Diggle is introduced just now in comics by his success in the series.
9)Stephen Amell is now going to become true Green Arrow in Season 4. Season 4's preview shows him ready to take on the bad guys in a green way.
10) He is often thought to have some kind of superpowers and is suspected of being a meta-human.This suspicion is because of his extreme level accuracy.He can actually shoot 29 arrows per minute and can also hit targets as small as water drops falling from the tap.
11)Green Arrow's abilities include not only his mastery in archery but, he is also a skilled tactician,strategist,computer hacker,marksmen,escapologist and an excellent swordsman.He uses high-tech vehicles and gadgets.
12)Green Arrow is skilled in many forms of martial arts including Judo,Kickboxing,wing Chun,taekwondo and as well as eskrima.He has shown his skill by taking on seven people at the same time.He dedicated his time to learn even from Natas,the same person who taught Deathstroke.
13)He is so skilled that even without super powers he can go toe to toe with many villains having super powers.He went toe to toe with Deadshot,whose power is to never miss.This has earned him quite a reputation.
14)He is a good family man. He is a good father. In both DC and Marvel universe,not many people can say that.this makes him a hero and a role model.
15)He was even killed in saving Metropolis from a bomb in the plane crashing towards the city.He got his hand on the detonator and even Superman could not have saved him without tearing his arm apart.In such a short time, he decided to sacrifice himself for the greater good.He was later resurrected by Hal Jordan at the end of Parallax as an empty vessel but, his soul was soon reunited from the Heaven.
16)He also knows how to cook.I mean what good would have hunting done him if he could not even cook.But, I guess the Island also made him learn the art of cooking and he makes a hell of a chilly.
17) He has no problem in challenging authority and easily messes with both Superman and Batman.Everyone knows that the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader run the show in DC universe.But, Green Arrow is just to us and raises questions about authority.
Arrow did some pretty amazing stuff and he goes above and beyond "the line" to provide justice.Prometheus was once caught by Justice League and said that he should be released otherwise he would explode bombs in every city.For showing how serious he was, he exploded the bomb in Arrow's City and millions of people died.Arrow asked the League to let him go but, found him alone and killed him.
Arrow also has done various important work despite just providing justice.He was the one who firstly joined up with Green Lantern and went on a truck through the city to seek peoples every day problems and solve them.He was also the first one to deal with Heroine (drug) addiction in about 1985 when Speedy(sidekick) was found addicted.
Arrow's second side-kick, Mia Dearden (also Speedy) was the first one who was suffering from H.I.V in comics.
